"Welcome" from John E. Karasti

"In Search of My Roots"

I'm on a Genealogical journey. To where ? I do not know....

My parents

This is the wedding picture of my mother, Delores L Levander, and my father, Frank F Karasti. The photograph was taken in San Francisco, Calif. in April of 1941. They had five children, Susan, John, Frank, Jeff, and Todd. To know yourself, you must know where you came from.
My search has led me all over the United States, and across the Atlantic, to Finland. What I'm finding out is, the quest has no end. It started in Winton, Minnesota, a very small town in the northeast part of the state, and may cover the world.

Our Children, waiting for a ride in uncle Franks plane

Hear Kasey Hear Nonny

These are our children, Nonny Frank, call me John when I'm 16, and his big sister, Kasey Sarah. Two more wonderful children couldn't be asked for. They scrap, just like any normal kids, but are very protective of each other. It's for them, and the generations that are to follow, that I'm doing this research into their family tree. Having children, makes one think of the future, and their past will play a part in what their future is to be.

My wife, and I

Here at last is an old picture of me, and my very loving, and understanding wife, Barbara Jane Casey. In the years since our wedding, we have both gotten a little older, and some of us a little grayer, but we still love each other. Without her understanding, and support, I couldn't have spent all the hours, that I have, at the computer, working on genealogy.

Notes of Thanks

I'd like to extend a special note of thanks to my brother, Frank D. Karasti, for getting me started on genealogy.

Dr. Paul T. Vangerud, of Valley City, North Dakota. Dr. Vangerud is the uncle of my wife, and has given me years of his work in genealogy on the Vangerud family. Thank you Uncle Paul.

So no matter what direction the compass points me to, I must follow. Here are a few links that I hope will make your journey a little smoother.

Remember, when you start this journey into time, you never know what you'll run into. Who knows, Bill Gates may be your cousin ... :-) , but you may find that Newt Gringrich is your long lost father, and your really adopted...:-(
